The Art of Giving (Gift Wrapping)

1. 4.
Gift-wrapping is especially important in Japanese culture — an old saying from the Japanese is “Paper is the mirror of the soul” — and it’s believed nature and the spirit to be united because the manner in which you wrap and tie an object carries an intrinsic symbolic message. The opening of the package is honored — as a ritual act. This is an excerpt of an online article at MSNBC "Today" http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6511380/

I found a wonderful Etsy shop who's owner seems to understand and implement this philosophy in her handmade gift boxes. Gift wrapping is an "art" and Faye's gift boxes are cute, trendy and innovative.

Here are a few of my favorite items...

Bird House Favor/Gift Box - Blue

Spring Treat/Gift Box - Set of 3

Clutch Purse Favor/Gift Box

Faye says, "When I was a little girl I always remember my mother wrapping presents into beautiful packages. They always had pretty wrapping paper and unique bows with little trinkets on top. You always felt special when you received one of her presents. This made me come up with my own creative and memorable way to give a gift. I love giving these as gifts as they always put a smile on the recipients face. I hope you find them as special and memorable as I do."

Faye is the mother of a 21 year old great son who is now in college and a wife to a wonderful husband. She lives in a small rural town in central Wisconsin (just 40 minutes north of Wisconsin Dells.) The soft pastel colors of spring are her current source of inspiration. She is always thinking about what the next box will be. Etsy has been a great resource for her to reach a lot of people. She says when she ships an order off she often envisions the smile on the person's face when they open it up. That's the best part for her.
